February 24 postgame notes

-With the win, Los Angeles improved to 82-80-32 all-time against Detroit, a record that includes a home mark of 48-34-15. The win snapped a four-game losing streak (0-3-1) to the Red Wings.

-The Kings have won a season-long eight consecutive games. It is the longest active winning streak in the league and tied for the longest streak in the league this season (twice: Chicago, 11/26/14-12/11/14; New York Rangers, 12/8/14-12/27/14). The eight-game streak is tied for the second longest streak in Los Angeles history (fourth time: 2013-14, 1991-92, 1972-73). The longest winning streak in club history is nine games, set from January 21, 2010 to February 6, 2010.

-Jonathan Quick’s 20-save shutout was his fourth of the season, 35th of his career and 200th in Kings history. He has posted a .940 Sv% and 1.63 GAA during the eight-game winning streak. Quick started his 15th consecutive game, extending his career-long streak (previously 13).

-With the win, the Kings now have 46 points at home this season (20-6-6), continuing their best home start through 32 games in franchise history. Previously the most points through 32 home games was 44 (twice, 1990-91 and 1974-75).

-Los Angeles has killed 15 consecutive power plays over the last five games. The last power play goal against was David Jones’ second period power play goal in the Kings’ 5-3 win over the Flames on February 12. Tonight’s game (5-for-5 PK) ended 10 consecutive games in which Los Angeles held its opponent to three power plays or fewer.

-The Kings have averaged 2.8 goals per game in February (28 G / 10 GP) and have scored at least three goals in six of eight games.

-Jeff Carter’s six-game point streak was snapped.

-Jamie McBain appeared in his 300th NHL game.

-Anze Kopitar has 31 points (6-25=31) in the last 28 games.

-Los Angeles out-hit Detroit, 37-27. Robyn Regehr finished with a game-high six hits.

-The Kings attempted 51 shots (27 on goal, 8 blocked, 16 missed). The Red Wings attempted 41 shots (20 on goal, 12 blocked, 9 missed). Marian Gaborik (4 on goal, 1 blocked, 3 missed) and Tyler Toffoli (4 on goal, 2 blocked, 2 missed) led all skaters with eight shot attempts. Gaborik, Toffoli and Drew Miller tied with a game-high four shots on goal.

-Los Angeles won 33-of-54 faceoffs (61%). Among regular performers, Anze Kopitar won 14-of-20, Jarret Stoll won 5-of-10, Nick Shore won 3-of-5, and Jeff Carter won 11-of-18.

The Kings are scheduled to practice at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 25 at Toyota Sports Center.
