February 16 postgame notes

-With the win, Los Angeles improved to 12-16-3 all-time against Tampa Bay, a record that includes a home mark of 4-10-2. The Kings went 2-0-0 against the Lightning for the first time since the 1997-98 season and extended their home winning streak in the series to a franchise-record three games. Los Angeles is 6-1-0 in its last seven games overall against Tampa Bay.

-The Kings have 44 points at home this season (19-6-6), continuing their best home start through 31 games in franchise history. Previously the most points through 31 home games were 43 (twice, 2005-06 and 1974-75).

-Los Angeles improved to 11-11-3 against the Eastern Conference and 7-5-1 against the Atlantic Division.

-The Kings improved to 6-13-5 when trailing after one, 6-2-4 when tied after two, and 8-7-12 in one-goal games.

-Los Angeles has won five consecutive games, tied with Nashville for the longest active streak in the league. The Kings’ longest winning streak of the season was six games, set between October 12-26.

-By registering his fourth multi-point game of the season (and third in four games), Dwight King (0-2=2) extended his point streak to a career-long four games (3-4=7). His two assists tied a career high (fifth time, last: Dec. 15, 2013 at OTT).

-Jeff Carter (1-0=1) extended his point streak to four games (2-5=7). His 16th goal of the season was also his third game-winning goal, which ties a team-high. Carter leads the team with 43 points (16-27=43).

-Tyler Toffoli’s four-game point streak was snapped. Since his six-game absence for mononucleosis, he has nine points (6-3=9) in nine games.

-King, Carter and Toffoli have combined for 27 points in the nine games since the All-Star Break.

-Jonathan Quick stopped 21-of-23 shots to win his fifth consecutive game. He has stopped 112-of-123 shots during the five-game winning streak (.911 SV%) and holds a 2.20 GAA over that span.

-Jordan Nolan has three goals over his last eight games and two goals in his last three games.

-With his assist on Anze Kopitar’s goal, Trevor Lewis recorded a point for the second consecutive game (1-1=2) and tied his career-high in points (14, 2012-13)

-Nick Shore recorded his second career assist.

-By totaling 30:29 of ice time, Drew Doughty logged at least 30 minutes for the 25th time this season. He leads the NHL with an average of 29:25 per game.

-Los Angeles out-hit Tampa Bay 38-25 and leads the NHL with 1,858 hits, seven more hits than the New York Islanders. Kyle Clifford and Robyn Regehr tied with a game-high six hits.

-The Kings attempted 52 shots (28 on goal, 13 blocked, 11 missed). The Lightning attempted 45 shots (23 on goal, 11 blocked, 11 missed). Dustin Brown led all skaters with eight shot attempts (3 on goal, 3 blocked, 2 missed). Los Angeles held Steven Stamkos to four shot attempts (2 on goal, 1 blocked, 1 missed). In two games against the Kings, Stamkos registered four shots on goal.

-Los Angeles won 24-of-40 faceoffs (60%). Among regular contributors, Anze Kopitar won 9-of-17, Jarret Stoll won 4-of-8, Nick Shore won 3-of-3, and Jeff Carter won 8-of-12.

The Kings are scheduled to practice at 11:30 a.m. at Toyota Sports Center on Tuesday, February 17.
