February 9 postgame quotes: Robyn Regehr

On feeling ill:
Yeah, I wasn’t feeling very good. I think I had some food poisoning. I didn’t spend too much time getting any rest last night, but was able to get a little bit of help from the trainers and things like that today. I managed to go out there and keep things very simple.

On whether his symptoms came on quickly:
Yeah, it was just like three in the morning. All the sudden, I just couldn’t stop it from coming up and it just kind of got worse and worse. I’m not feeling great, but it’s nice that we get the chance to go home, have a day off, rest and then hopefully everything gets better and subsides.

On whether he thought he might not be able to play:
You just try to do what you can out there. If they ask you to go, you try to do your job as best you can. I know they tried to call somebody up, but I think there were some issues with travel.

On his mindset in warmups when he’s not feeling well:
Just more mental than anything else, you know that physically you’re not feeling great. You have to strip the game down to bare essentials and try to go out there and do what you can and hopefully your teammates help you out. They did. Jonathan had a very strong game. I thought our forwards played extremely well. Tonight, they capitalized on our chances and just a very, very strong offensive game. They were cycling pucks and moving through the neutral zone well. So they really helped us out as defensemen.

On whether he has played through food poisoning before:
Guys play sick all the time. It’s really not something that’s out of the ordinary. You try to do what you can. We have a job to do and you have to do. Sometimes you have bumps and bruises or nagging injuries or sickness, whatever it is.
