January 29 practice notes

Good afternoon from El Segundo, where it seems to be a touch late to be reporting on today’s practice. Thank you for your patience; the Kings took the ice shortly before 12, and after a long skate (the team won’t skate tomorrow, so today’s practice covered a lot of ground), team meetings, and an extended chat with Darryl Sutter, it’s time to get down to brass tacks.

Lines! (Grouped via color coding)
Yellow: Clifford – Kopitar – Brown
Black: King – Carter – Toffoli
White: Gaborik – Shore – Williams
Green: Lewis – Stoll – Nolan – Andreoff

Notes!

-Those lines are…different. Keep in mind that after last night’s game Darryl Sutter said that he liked the Jeff Carter line, but “we’ve got a lot of work to do with some other guys,” so don’t be surprised to see the alignment other than the Carter line adjusted.

-The team got some shootout work in at the end of practice. A thought amongst reporters today was that it’s likely that the team will run into a shootout or two on the upcoming trip, so we’ll see if today’s continued work has any ability to improve the club’s 1-7 record when games extend past 65 minutes.

-There’s lots more to get to today: AHL realignment, reflections on last night’s win, Darryl Sutter quotes and more. Stay tuned as we all get caught up throughout the afternoon.
