Schultz on Anaheim, Shore on debut, Toffoli on recovery

Jeff Schultz, on whether Anaheim is one of the toughest teams to keep away from the net:
Yeah it is. You look at guys like Getzlaf, Perry and Maroon – big bodies, highly skilled and can make plays – it’s tough. It’s being in good position, battling hard and just knowing where they are on the ice.

Schultz, on whether Anaheim’s forecheck affords them less time to make a play in their zone:
I guess you can say that. They like to get in there and the first guy is always looking to take the body. So you have to be expecting to take a hit and the second guy is coming in for either another hit or the puck. It’s just getting back and talking with your partner, trying to make a smart play and keeping your head up.

Schultz, on whether keeping New Jersey away from the front of the net was a challenge:
Yeah, I think we had a little bit of trouble with that. They have a couple big bodies that were able to get to the net and get some second and third whacks. That’s kind of a focus for us tonight with another big team.

Schultz, on whether he liked the two days of practice between games:
Yeah, it was good. We kind of worked on some areas of our game that weren’t going so well. I think it was good to kind of give us some time to refocus and get ready for tonight.

Nick Shore, on his Manchester linemates:
It rotated a bit at the beginning, then I played with Brian O’Neill for probably the last 30 games. He’s a great player, so we worked pretty well together.

Shore, on whether his parents will be at his NHL debut:
Yeah, my parents are going to be in. [Reporter: Your parents have done a little travelling.] Yeah, a little too much travelling for my parents I think, but it’s nice that they’ll be here.

Shore, on whether he had a hard time falling asleep last night:
I definitely think there are a little bit of nerves going into tonight, it being my first game. Just trying to put that into some positive energy and hope we get off to a good start.

Tyler Toffoli, on what the doctors have told him about his mononucleosis:
It was good… it’s getting better. It’s going in the right direction which is obviously a really good thing and it’s moving a lot faster than they expected.

Toffoli, on whether his illness is more frustrating than an injury with a set timetable:
I’m getting frustrated. I think at the start I wasn’t as frustrated. I was more concerned of being out for three months or whatever everyone thought was the deal. But now it’s going in the right direction. It’s good, but it’s frustrating as well. I want to be playing and I feel like I could play right now but obviously have to be careful. It can ruin my life.

Toffoli, on how he felt when the illness was coming on:
I had a sore throat for a while, but there was a flu going around. I get sick all the time like that. It’s not a big deal for me, I do this stuff all the time. Obviously once I got the rash Dr. Mellman saw a little bit of a red flag and thank goodness that we caught it early and I’ve been resting and doing the best that I can since.

Toffoli, on whether he is getting bored at his house:
Not too bad. I can still hang out and do stuff. [Reporter: It’s not like you’re bed ridden.] It’s not too bad. I’ve been coming in and going to games and stuff. It’s not as bad as everyone thought it was going to be.
