January 12 morning skate notes

Good morning from El Segundo, where the Kings are in post-morning skate meetings.

Line rushes at this morning’s skate:

Gaborik – Kopitar – Carter
Brown – Stoll – Williams
King – Richards – Lewis
Clifford – Andreoff – Shore – Nolan

McNabb – Doughty
Muzzin – Greene
Schultz – Martinez
Regehr – McBain

Jones
Quick

-Martin Jones left the ice first and should be expected to start against the Toronto Maple Leafs tonight at Staples Center. Not that it’s important, but to this point we’ve seen only one period of Battle Of The Jonathans since Jonathan Bernier was traded to Toronto in June, 2013. This will be the fourth meeting between the teams since the trade.

-Nick Shore and Jamie McBain remained on the ice for extra work with Robyn Regehr (injured reserve) and Quick, so they’re not likely to play tonight.

-Darryl Sutter, on whether the personnel issues have created an opportunity for Andy Andreoff: “I’d say Andreoff and Nolan would both be in the very same boat. Guys who have played a handful of shifts once in a while and need to play a hell of a lot better than they have.” I’ll have more from Andreoff and Shore later today.

-Former King Denis Tsygurov, who was an incoming asset in the February, 1995 blockbuster trade with the Buffalo Sabres, has died at the age of 43. A Russian news story translated to English via Google Translate on his passing can be found here.
