At the season’s midpoint: Brown, Martinez, Greene

Tonight’s game, the Kings’ 41st of 2014-15, marks the endpoint of the season’s first half. Earlier today, several players were asked about the team’s performance midway through its second title defense.

Dustin Brown, on the team’s play this season:
From a standings standpoint, we’re in the mix and we definitely want to be higher. That’s probably the positive, that we’re still in the mix considering we haven’t played as well as we would like. I think if we can get back, we can play both individually and collectively, we will make a climb in the standings.

Brown, on whether the four days between games helped the team:
It’s not too often you get four days off without a game unless it’s like a Christmas or All-Star-type thing. It’s not really about the days off, it’s about what you do with the days off. Again, that comes down to an individual, taking care of yourself, and getting yourself ready to play.

Brown, on whether he is pleased with what the team has done with four days off:
Yeah, I think we’ve had good practices, and again, it’s how you manage those days off.

Alec Martinez, on whether he’s satisfied with the results of three day of practices:
Yeah, I think so. I think we got three really solid days of practice and we worked on some things that we need to tighten up a bit. To be able to get reps like that in practice, with the schedule the way it’s been we’ve been playing a lot of games and that kind of limits your opportunities to practice. Having those three or four days was good for us.

Martinez, on how he’d assess the team’s performance at the midpoint of the season:
I think it’s fairly obvious that we’re not happy with where our game is at right now. I think that there is a long way to go. We’ve done some good things, but there are a lot of things that we need to clean up.

Matt Greene, on whether he breaks down the season into segments:
No, I think the coaches do a good job here of breaking it down into segments. It’s even less than 10 games. You’ve just got to focus on that and keep the task at hand in front of you.
