January 3 postgame notes

-With the overtime loss, Los Angeles fell to 29-23-8 all-time against Nashville, a record that includes a home mark of 14-13-3. With a shootout win and an overtime win the Predators won the season series for the third consecutive year; these teams will conclude the season series on March 14 at Staples Center.

-The Kings fell to 13-6-6 against the Western Conference and 6-4-2 against the Central Division.

-Los Angeles fell to 5-5-9 in one-goal games, while Nashville improved to 16-4-3.

-Via the Elias Sports Bureau, the Kings were the first team to erase a three-goal deficit in final 2:30 of regulation and earn a point since Mar. 30, 2003 (Edmonton 4-4 vs Chicago). Radek Dvorak scored twice and Todd Marchment scored once for the Oilers.

-Los Angeles fell to 2-9 in games that extend past 60 minutes.

-The Kings fell to 13-2-5 when scoring the game’s first goal.

-Los Angeles has a 58.3% Corsi-for rating in five-on-five play over the last 20 games (1064 CF / 762 CA). The Kings haven’t been outshot over the last 16 games (7-5-4) and have averaged 35.1 shots per game over that span (562 shots / 16 GP). Opposing goalies have posted a .916 save percentage over that span (515 saves / 562 shots).

-With a home record of 14-4-3, the Kings are tied for the most home points and tied for the most home wins in the Western Conference.

-Los Angeles allowed seven goals in a game for the first time since a 7-4 loss at Anaheim on February 2, 2013.

-Anze Kopitar (0-3=3) has points in seven of the last nine games (2-13=15). Today was the third time he recorded at least three assists in the last eight games.

-Jeff Carter has 10 points (4-6=10) in the last nine games. He has 12 goals in 18 career games against Nashville.

-Drew Doughty has points in three straight games (1-2=3).

-Dwight King has goals in two straight games, tying a career high. He has scored in consecutive games four times in his career. Today was his first multi-goal game since his hat trick in a 7-4 win over Phoenix on October 24, 2013.

-Matt Greene has points in two straight games (1-1=2), tying a career high.

-Mike Richards has points in two straight games (1-1=2).

-Marian Gaborik has points in eight of his last nine games (8-4=12). He has 30 points (15-15=30) in 31 career games against Nashville.

-With his assist, Jamie McBain has 99 career points (27-72=99).

-The Kings attempted 64 shots (30 on goal, 15 blocked, 19 missed). The Predators attempted 44 shots (25 on goal, 9 blocked, 10 missed). Drew Doughty led all skaters with 10 shot attempts, while Dwight King led all skaters with six shots on goal.

-Los Angeles won 37-of-70 faceoffs (53%). Among regular performers, Mike Richards won 3-of-10, Anze Kopitar won 11-of-20, Trevor Lewis won 3-of-7, Jarret Stoll won 12-of-22 and Jeff Carter won 8-of-11.

The Kings will not practice on Sunday. The next practice is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 5 at Toyota Sports Center.
