January 1 postgame notes

-With the win, Los Angeles improved to 102-97-35 all-time against Vancouver, a record that includes a road mark of 39-59-17.

-The Kings won their first game in regulation at Rogers Arena since a 3-2 win on January 19, 2008. Jack Johnson, Scott Thornton, Dustin Brown and Alex Frolov scored goals, while Jason LaBarbera stopped 43 of 46 shots.

-Los Angeles improved to 13-6-5 against the Western Conference and 7-2-4 against the Pacific Division.

-The Kings have a 58.4% Corsi-for rating in five-on-five play over the last 19 games (1023 CF / 729 CA). … Los Angeles hasn’t been outshot over the last 15 games (7-5-3) and has averaged 35.5 shots per game over that span (532 shots / 15 GP). Opposing goalies have posted a .923 save percentage over that span (491 saves / 532 shots).

-Los Angeles is 12-for-32 on the power play (37.5%) over their last eight games.

-The Kings have outscored their opponents 35-24 in third periods this season. Their plus-11 goal differential is the widest out of any period.

-The last time Los Angeles trailed by two goals in a game and won and entered the third period trailing and won was the 6-4 win over St. Louis on December 18.

-Jeff Carter turned 30 years old today. He is one of seven Kings in their 30’s. Youngest to oldest, they are: Carter (30), Brown (30), Greene (31), Stoll (32), Gaborik (32), Williams (33), Regehr (34).

-Justin Williams’ goal ended a seven-game goal drought.

-Brad Richardson played his 500th NHL game.

-The Kings attempted 67 shots (40 on goal, 16 blocked, 11 missed). The Canucks attempted 33 shots (16 on goal, 10 blocked, 7 missed). Drew Doughty, Justin Williams, Jarret Stoll and Tyler Toffoli led all skaters with four shots on goal. Eight Vancouver skaters did not register a shot on goal (Sbisa, Weber, Vey, Tanev, Stanto, H. Sedin, Dorsett, Horvat).

-Los Angeles won 28-of-61 faceoffs (46%). Among regular performers, Mike Richards won 4-of-6, Anze Kopitar, won 7-of-17, Trevor Lewis won 1-of-4, Jarret Stoll won 11-of-17, and Jeff Carter won 5-of-16.

The Kings are scheduled to practice at 12:00 pm at Toyota Sports Center on Friday, January 2.
