December 20 postgame notes

-With the win, Los Angeles improved to 82-96-33 all-time against the Arizona/Phoenix/Winnipeg franchise, a record that includes a home mark of 46-42-16. The Kings are 9-2-0 in the last 11 regular season home meetings with the Coyotes. Because Los Angeles plays Arizona only four times, today’s win clinched the season series for the Kings (2-0-1).

-Los Angeles improved to 11-5-3 against the Western Conference and 5-1-2 against the Pacific Division.

-The Kings have averaged 3.1 goals per game over their last 20 games (62 G / 20 GP). They have allowed 2.71 goals per game over their last 14 games (38 GA / 14 GP). Today’s game ended a five-game streak in which Los Angeles’ opponents scored at least three goals.

-The Kings have a 56.7% Corsi-for rating in five-on-five play over the last 14 games (734 CF / 561 CA). The Kings haven’t been outshot over the last 10 games (5-4-1) and have averaged 36.3 shots per game over that span (363 shots / 10 GP). Opposing goalies have posted a .925 save percentage over that span (334 saves / 361 shots).

-Los Angeles has power play goals in three straight games, going 6-for-17 over that span.

-The Kings ended a four-game streak of games in which they allowed a power play goal. The last game Los Angeles did not allow a power play goal was the 5-3 win at Ottawa on December 11.

With today’s win, the Los Angeles has tied the most points (27) and wins (13) at home through 18 games in franchise history. This is the eighth time in franchise history the Kings have had 27 points (also 2012-13, 2010-11, 1992-93, 1988-89, 1979-80, 1974-75, 1972-73) through 18 games and the fifth time in franchise history Los Angeles has had 13 wins (also 2012-13, 2010-11, 1992-93, 1988-89) through 18 games.

-With his 115th regular season win, Darryl Sutter (115-68-30) tied Tom Webster (115-94-31) for fifth overall on the Kings’ all-time wins list.

-General Manager Dean Lombardi tied Dave Taylor (656) for the second most games served as the Kings GM.

-Marian Gaborik has goals in four straight games (6-2=8), the longest streak by a King this season. This is Gaborik’s longest streak since he had a five-game streak, Dec. 17-26, 2011 (7-0=7; w/NYR). Gaborik has 31 points (22-9=31) in 33 career games against Arizona.

-Anze Kopitar has nine points (1-8=9) total over his three-game assist streak. This is the first time in his career that he has posted 3-or-more assists in consecutive games. He has 53 points (15-38=53) in 52 career games against Arizona.

-Jeff Carter has six points (2-4=6) over his three-game point streak.

-Kyle Clifford played his 300th NHL game.

-Jamie McBain (0-2=2) registered his first multi-point game as a King and first since Feb. 26, 2014 (0-2=2; with Buffalo). Tonight marks his 11th career multi-point game and fifth career multi-assist game (ties his career high).

-The Kings out-hit the Coyotes 38-24. Jake Muzzin finished with a game-high six hits.

-Los Angeles attempted 66 shots (35 on goal, 12 blocked, 19 missed). Arizona attempted 51 shots (17 on goal, 15 blocked, 19 missed).

-The Kings won 28-of-55 faceoffs (51%). Among regular performers, Mike Richards won 1-of-2, Anze Kopitar won 5-of-12, Trevor Lewis won 4-of-11, Jarret Stoll won 12-of-20, and Jeff Carter won 6-of-10.

Sunday, December 21 is an off-day for the Kings. Their next scheduled practice at Toyota Sports Center is the 10:00 a.m. morning skate on Monday, December 22 in advance of that night’s game against Calgary.
