December 9 postgame quotes: Toffoli, Kopitar, Regehr

Tyler Toffoli, on his opportunity on the power play:
The puck was just rolling. I was trying to get something on it. I didn’t really get a whole lot on it. On the backhand it still on almost went in, but it wasn’t good enough.

Toffoli, on whether they didn’t get many scoring opportunities:
Yeah, we got a lot of shots but they weren’t really Grade-A scoring chances. We have to get in front of him. We have to do the dirty work and get those nasty goals we’re struggling to find right now.

Toffoli, on whether the team is lacking urgency at key moments:
I’m not sure. We had glimpses of being really good and then there were other times where we weren’t great. So we’ve got to figure it out and find a way on Thursday.

Toffoli, on whether Buffalo sat back and defended:
We knew what they were going to bring and they did what we expected them to do. We just didn’t do what we wanted to do. It’s plain and simple.

Anze Kopitar, on the lack of scoring:
There is no secret to it. I think we outshot them two-to-one again, but that doesn’t really matter at the end of the day because we didn’t cash in on our chances. We’ve got to work at it and we’ve got to get better. That’s what it is.

Kopitar, on whether there were similarities to this game and Saturday’s loss:
I guess that’s what happens during the season once in a while and we’ve been in this boat before. Obviously we didn’t get off to a good start on this road trip, but we still have lots of hockey in front of us on the road here. So we’ve got to regroup again and… we’ve got another one on Thursday and get back at it.

Kopitar, on whether they were getting quality scoring chances:
It’s a combination of everything. I thought we had some pretty good chances around the net and we didn’t cash in and we’ve got to do it.

Robyn Regehr, on the loss:
We lost on special teams. I took a penalty in the third period. We weren’t able to kill it off. For some reason we’re struggling to score goals in here. Last year, I think we only scored one and this year we didn’t score any. So we’ve got to find a way to put the puck in the net.

Regehr, on whether it was weird being the visitors’ locker room:
No, I did it last year. For me, it was being traded from Calgary was a little bit more awkward, I would say, with the feeling of returning there. I spent 11 years, I was a year and half [here.] But still good to see some of the guys after the game and say hello.
