Surgery for Martinez, per Lombardi

I don’t have any update on top of what I reported on Twitter earlier this hour, but I recently spoke with Dean Lombardi in the hallway of the Kings’ facility at Toyota Sports Center. The Kings’ general manager told me that Martinez underwent surgery on a finger earlier today, and that it’s too early to talk about any recovery timetable.

Before I spoke with Lombardi, Darryl Sutter was unable to provide an update, other than saying, “He went to the doctor this morning,” and noting that he had been in the team’s facility before heading to his 10:00 appointment.

Because Robyn Regehr has made progress in his undisclosed injury, he could be a candidate to return to the lineup in place of Martinez. Line rushes at this morning’s practice included Jake Muzzin with Drew Doughty, Regehr with Jamie McBain, and Brayden McNabb with Matt Greene. At no point this season have the Kings been able to use their full complement of players.
