The Kings didn’t hold traditional line rushes during practice at Toyota Sports Center today, but did open the morning skate with a drill that gave some indications of the alignments that could be used for tonight’s game against the New York Islanders.
The lines and pairings:
Gaborik – Kopitar – Nolan
Pearson – Carter – Toffoli
King – Richards – Brown
Clifford – Stoll – Lewis
Andreoff
Muzzin – Doughty
Regehr – Martinez
McNabb – Greene
Quick
Jones
-So, Jordan Nolan alongside Marian Gaborik and Anze Kopitar. That’s not necessarily an indication that he’s getting bumped to the top line; in fact, it could be more of an indication that Justin Williams could be ready to go tonight, and that Nolan was only keeping his spot warm. Williams said yesterday that he was “probably” out due to the eye injury incurred from Brenden Dillon’s high stick; I’m sure Darryl will shed some light on the subject shortly.
UPDATE, 11:05 am: Justin Williams is out tonight, per Darryl Sutter.
-Jonathan Quick left the ice first this morning. Expect him to start against the Islanders.
-Kings Weekly follows tonight’s Kings Live postgame. I’ll have a preview post later this afternoon.
