Kopitar traveling with team

Good afternoon from Philadelphia, where the team landed at roughly 4:30 local time after an easy flight that was without WiFi; apologies for the delay in relaying today’s news. We’ve been greeted by some charming early fall weather at the outset of the five-city road trip that will also bring the team through Pittsburgh, Detroit, Raleigh and Dallas.

You’re likely already well aware of this, but Anze Kopitar, who left yesterday’s 5-2 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets with what was announced in the press box during the third period as an upper-body injury, traveled with the team on the trip. While that’s an indication that Kopitar’s injury isn’t severe, it still isn’t clear if the injury will keep him out of action for any amount of time. For a primer on the Kings’ options should Kopitar be unable to play, click here. More on his availability will be learned tomorrow.

We’re en route to the hotel; expect a lot more content – including a belated and abbreviated Waking up with the Kings – to come this afternoon.
