October 23 postgame notes

-With the win, Los Angeles improved to 42-55-19 all-time against Buffalo, a record that includes a home mark of 26-24-9. The Kings are 8-2-1 in their last 11 home games in the series. The two teams will conclude the season series on December 9 at the First Niagara Center.

– Jonathan Quick recorded the 33rd shutout of his career, surpassing Rogie Vachon for first overall on the Kings all-time shutout list.

-Los Angeles is 5-0-0 in their six-game home stand (10/12 LAK 4, WPG 1; 10/14 LAK 6, EDM 1; 10/16 LAK 1 STL 0 (SO); 10/19 LAK 2, MIN 1; 10/23 LAK 2, BUF 0; 10/26 CBJ). No Kings team has ever posted a perfect 6-0-0 home stand. In 1990-91, the Kings were 5-0-1 on a home stand, which to this point represents the best six-game home stand in club history.

-Los Angeles is on a five-game winning streak, tying the longest home winning streak from last season (5-0-0; December 2-21, 2013). The Kings have points in six straight games (5-0-1).

-Since Oliver Ekman-Larsson’s overtime game-winner in Arizona on October 11, Los Angeles has killed 17 consecutive penalties.

-The Kings have scored the first goal in five of six games this season (5-0-1).

-Over their five-game winning streak, Los Angeles goalies have stopped 172 of 175 shots for a .983 save percentage. Jonathan Quick has stopped 143 of 145 shots over his last four games.

-The line of Jeff Carter, Tanner Pearson and Tyler Toffoli has combined for 23 points (12-11=23) and a plus-25 rating over the last six games. They have accounted for 12 of the team’s 16 goals this season (and 13 of 17, if Carter’s shootout game-winner last Thursday is counted).

-With a goal and an assist tonight, Jeff Carter recorded his 99th and 100th points (63-37=100) with Los Angeles in his 143rd game as a King. He has eight points (4-4=8) in his last six games. His goal 36 seconds into the game was the earliest goal scored by a King since Anze Kopitar scored 27 seconds into a 3-0 win at Edmonton on April 10, 2014.

-Anze Kopitar has 10 points (4-6=10) in eight career games against the Sabres.

-Los Angeles attempted 77 shots (39 on goal, 17 blocked, 21 missed). Buffalo attempted 47 shots (29 on goal, seven blocked, 11 missed).

-The Kings won 28-of-53 faceoffs (53%). Among regular performers, Mike Richards won 7-of-12, Anze Kopitar won 7-of-14, Jarret Stoll won 8-of-15, and Jeff Carter won 5-of-10.

The Kings are not scheduled to practice on Friday, October 24. The team’s next practice will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 25 at Toyota Sports Center.
