Kings respond to Voynov news

Dustin Brown, on what he and his teammates talked about regarding Slava Voynov:
As us in a group in here, we’re just trying to focus on what we need to do on the ice. This is an unfortunate situation, it’s about the guys in here and how we handle it, it’s important that we stick together.

Brown, on how to keep it from becoming a “major distraction”:
By just talking about it, not the issue at hand, but how we’re going to handle it as a group. Again, we have a group that’s been through a lot, maybe not anything like this, but we can lean on past experiences that we’ve had together. We can trust each other here to refocus and worry about hockey.

Brown, on if he was able to reach out to Voynov:
I have not talked to him personally. I’m not sure, I can’t really speak for anyone else, but obviously this all came down really quickly. It’s an unfortunate situation, our job as players here is to focus on the game and let the legal part of it play itself out.

Brown, on the league’s immediate suspension:
I think given the current state of cultural society over the last year, it’s a pretty normal response.

Brown, on Muzzin and the depth of the team:
Jake’s been a big part of our team the last couple of years, so getting him back, regardless of every other exterior situation, just getting him back into the lineup is a positive. Just to get him back, he’s been a big part of our team, and it has nothing to do with this other situation but he’s a big boost to our lineup regardless.

Brown, on whether the team needs to make a move because of cap space:
Quite honestly, that’s a question for somebody else. I don’t even know our cap situation, I know they spit out numbers, but it seems to change every day. For us as players, we’re just trying to not let this distract us from what we need to do. We all have jobs in here, and that’s what we do on the ice, so that’s our main focus.

Jarret Stoll, on his reaction to Slava Voynov’s arrest:
I think we’re all disappointed and it’s unfortunate that we have to deal with this. But I hope that everything can get sorted out and obviously it’s a legal matter now. I think you guys all know what that means. We can’t do much talking about that and that all has to play itself out within the legal system, which is obvious.

Stoll, on what Voynov’s absence means for the team’s defense:
He’s a great player for our team, for this team. You guys are here today at the Toyota Center because we’re a team. We’ve got to be strong together. Speaking strictly for hockey, we’ve got a lot of depth. We have a good team. Guys are going to have to step up just like it was any other thing going on. So yeah, he’s a great player for us. Hopefully everything can, like I said, get sorted out. It’s unfortunate for our team, but we’ll deal with it as a team and as a group. We feel that we’re a strong enough group to do that.

Stoll, on keeping Voynov’s arrest from being a major distraction for the team:
You don’t let it be [a distraction]. If we were a younger team or a less experienced team, I don’t know if that would be the case. But we talked about it. We’re aware of it obviously and we have to move on as a team. We’re going to address it today to the media and we move on together. We have a hockey game on Thursday to focus for and worry about and a couple home games here, then a very tough, long road trip. We’ve got a lot to focus on ourselves within this room, within our team, our group. Like I said, we’re a strong enough group to get through this adversity and we’ll move on.

Stoll, on how he found about Voynov’s arrest:
Me and Greener found out early in the morning. That’s about it.

Stoll, on whether he or anyone within the organization has spoken to Voynov:
No, I don’t know. Some of us have reached out to him, but we just hope everything can work out for the both of them. But no, we haven’t talked to him.

Stoll, on what happens to the “closeness” of the team after the arrest:
We’re still a strong group. We’re still a hockey team. We’re still going to play hockey. We’re still going to win games and our goal has never changed. Our attitude within this room has never changed. It’s adversity for us, but we’re going to come through it. That’s all I can say about it right now.

Stoll, on whether the NHL’s response to Voynov’s arrest was appropriate:
Our organization supports the decision. We all support the decision. It’s unfortunate what happened, but again, it’s in the legal system now. I can’t really talk about that part of things. [Reporter: Just the sense that the NHL seems to be much more aggressive than the NFL, for example.] I have no comment on the NFL. That’s a different league. It’s a totally different ballgame there. The NHL did what the NHL did and us, as an organization, support the NHL’s decision and that’s probably the best way to answer that question.

Stoll, on whether there was anything “amiss” on Sunday:
No. [Reporter: Slava seemed fine? He wasn’t acting like there was a problem or anything?] No, not all.

Matt Greene, on how he heard about Voynov’s arrest:
Through the news.

Greene, on how Voynov’s absence may affect the team:
It affects everybody. But I think it affects those guys, his family, the most and that’s it. We’re thinking about his family, everybody involved there.

Greene, on whether he has spoken with Voynov since the arrest:
No.

Greene, on how he feels about the arrest:
I just feel bad for everybody involved in the situation.

Greene, on what his first reaction to the news of Voynov’s arrest was:
I just felt bad for all the parties involved and that was it.

Greene, on how many details surrounding the arrest the team knows:
We know what happened through the media. That’s it. Same as what you guys know.

Greene, on keeping Voynov’s arrest from being a major distraction for the team:
We’ve got to keep playing games and you just hope that they can figure out their situation. Hopefully everybody is OK. We feel for those people, for him and his family.

Greene, on whether they addressed the issue of domestic violence after seeing what happened in the NFL:
I’m not really going to comment on that. That’s not our issues.

Jake Muzzin, on how he’s feeling:
The skating and conditioning and all that is fine, it’s just a little injury, like I said before, that needs to be cleared then we’re good to go.

Muzzin, on when he’ll be seeing a doctor:
Today.
