October 18 practice notes

The Kings are wrapping up practice in El Segundo, where they’re skating in advance of tomorrow’s game against the Minnesota Wild.

Though the Kings usually share Saturdays with the Clippers – with one team taking the 1:00 afternoon slot and the other taking the 7:30 evening slot – on Sunday they’ll share Staples Center with the Lakers, who have a 6:30 p.m. preseason game against the Utah Jazz. Starts at 1:00 p.m. are common, and there are the occasional 12:30 west coast Hockey Night In Canada starts. But tomorrow’s game starts at high noon, so pour yourself a pot of coffee (or pack the Keurig) and make the early trek downtown for tomorrow’s matinee.

Marian Gaborik and Trevor Lewis aren’t skating with the team. Jake Muzzin is, though it was still Brayden McNabb who skated primarily with Drew Doughty. Any information on Muzzin’s progression will be shared on the blog this afternoon.

Judging by the color coded jerseys the forwards wore on Thursday, there won’t be any changes to the lines that were used against Edmonton and opened up the game against St. Louis. Anze Kopitar centered Mike Richards and Justin Williams, Jeff Carter centered Tanner Pearson and Tyler Toffoli, Jarret Stoll centered Dwight King and Dustin Brown, and Andy Andreoff centered Kyle Clifford and Jordan Nolan.

It’s a practice preceding an afternoon game, so the #LAKingsGoalieTweetOff applies. Jonathan Quick left the ice first and should be expected to start tomorrow against the Wild.
