October 16 morning skate quotes: Brown, Nolan

Dustin Brown, on whether the Kings became more of an attacking team when Marian Gaborik was acquired:
Well I think with the personnel we have, we should be. We work really hard in the defensive zone to get the puck. Once we get it, it’s going after it and attacking and I think a mentality of players just to hold onto pucks more. It’s really hard to get the puck back. Once you get it, you just don’t want to give it back to them or give it away. Part of it is our rush game and the other part of it is our forecheck and putting it in good places for guys to kind of recover the puck and get it going in.

Brown, on whether there is a different mentality when playing St. Louis:
I think the approach pretty much stays the same. I think we’re all well aware of just like writers or coaches or fans. Everyone knows who the elite level teams are. Our approach doesn’t stay the same, but we also understand that we’re not going to get away with not being prepared with a team like the Blues, because they are one of those teams that have been consistently one of the better teams the last few year.

Jordan Nolan, on whether he and Dwight King solidified their roles on the team in the 2012 series against St. Louis:
I think so. I think that was a big series for me and Dwight to step up. We’re both bigger players. I remember Dwight took out one of their D-men and stood up the next game and took on another guy. For myself, I had a fight and a goal in that series. I think any time you can contribute in a series like that, the coaches definitely know they can put you out there in certain situations.

Nolan, on whether there is a different mentality when playing St. Louis:
I think obviously the day of the game, the morning skate, you’re getting in the right mind frame that it’s going to be an intense game and a physical game. You definitely have to come prepared for it or it might get you hurt you’re first shift out there if you’re not ready for an intense game. You’ll mentally come in, and you’ve got to be ready. It should be a physical match.

Nolan, on skating on a line with Andy Andreoff:
It was good. He’s a good player. He’s only going to get better as he gets more games, more minutes. I think that tonight is his kind of game and our line’s kind of game. It’s going to be fun to watch I think.

Nolan, on whether he saw the smile on Andy Andreoff’s face after his first fight:
Yeah, I think he was pretty excited. It’s a big moment for him. His first NHL shift, a big fight, got the win and at Staples Center, a pretty special place to play. I think he’s excited.
