On whether “key players” generated second and third opportunities early:
I think we all did that. I don’t think it was ‘key players.’ I think it was pretty evenly distributed through our lineup tonight.
On whether he noticed the difference between tonight and the previous games:
I thought we played really well last night, too. We had opportunities last night to go up three and couldn’t. We took that step last night and tonight was a good step, too.
On the rush chances generated by the Pearson-Carter-Toffoli line:
Again, I think we all had a lot of rush chances. They finished theirs. I think the minutes will show you that when everybody’s playing well, everybody plays. I think we had four good lines and our defense was jumping up in the play and joining and getting pucks through.
On whether Jeff Carter is a vocal on-ice mentor:
I think his wingers really respect him. They know he’s got that speed in the middle that allows those guys to get open, because he draws a lot of coverage there.
On whether Marian Gaborik took a step forward:
I thought Kopi was on his game tonight. Generally that generates opportunities for wingers.
On Martin Jones’ poise in net:
He’s played like that I think every game that we’ve played him. That’s the same way that he plays.
