Mike Stothers talks win, Rookie Camp progress

On the 3-1 win over Arizona:
Obviously the result was good, and I thought we were better than yesterday. We talked yesterday – I thought we did some things well. I thought today we took it up a notch and continued to work on the things we need to, but I think we were more five-man involved. We were good. I thought we had a good compete level here today, which is important, and I think that’s the reason the result was the way it was.

On getting bodies to the net and creating traffic:
Yeah, I thought we did a good job of that. I thought their goalies made some great saves for them, but you’ve got to make it difficult for them. You’ve got to get them moving. Everybody knows you’ve got to take away their vision, so we got some bigger bodies to the net. We have a lot of activity down low, and that’s tough for goalies to pick up and sort things out. We got a couple power plays because of it, and I thought it was real good. I thought it was important for our guys – they’ve been working so hard the last few days, and to have their hard work rewarded with a victory here today, I think it’s just a feel good situation for us going forward.

On whether he has noticed progress through camp, or whether the progress takes place over time:
No, I think we’ve been able to see some progress from day to day. The problem is just sustaining it every time. Just when you think you’ve got something, there’s going to be a backwards step, and that’s part of the process of these guys learning the game and learning what it takes to be an NHL regular and certainly being a part of this organization, so it’s just a lot of repetition. There’s a lot of information for them to absorb, and again it’s a process, and I feel that we have improved, and we will continue to strive to improve. But we are susceptible to some backwards steps.
