Reporters receive frequent emails from Las Vegas oddsmakers, specifically Bovada, on subjects that range from postseason awards favorites to playoff and regular season predictions to more interesting prop bets on individual player performances. These topics mean little, though it’s interesting to learn what those who set the lines think about particular teams and players.
Earlier today, Bovada released the over/under on projected point totals. Among LAKI’s Western Conference observations:
-Bovada doesn’t appear to be scared off by a potential Stanley Cup hangover or the Los Angeles’ tendencies to finish right around the 100-point cusp
-San Jose still expected to be a very good hockey team despite their widely unpopular off-season decisions
-Good luck on replicating that 112-point season, Colorado
-Dallas could stagnate despite their playoff return and the acquisition of Jason Spezza? If you say so, Bovada
-Teams Bovada is soft on: Arizona (80.5 over/under), Winnipeg (80.5), Nashville (76.5) and Calgary (71.5 over/under)
