Kings open 2014-15 season at home versus Sharks

The Los Angeles Kings will hold a banner raising ceremony in advance of their 2014-15 season opener, which will take place at Staples Center on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 against the San Jose Sharks.

Because there will be no NHL Premiere this season, October 8 marks the season opener and four high profile games: Philadelphia at Boston, Vancouver at Calgary, Montreal at Toronto and San Jose at Los Angeles.

Per the full list of home openers below, the Kings will not be the visitor for any team’s home opener. Last year, Los Angeles took part in both Minnesota and Winnipeg’s home openers.

The Kings are 20-17-9 all-time in season openers and 23-15-8 all-time in home openers. In 2013-14 the Kings opened the season with a 3-2 shootout win at Minnesota and lost 3-1 to the New York Rangers in their home opener.

The full NHL schedule will be announced at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. Last year, the schedule was announced on July 19.
