Mayor Garcetti says a bad word

One difference between the 2012 and 2014 fan rallies inside Staples Center was that there were fewer civic speakers involved in the rally this afternoon. Whereas City Council President Herb Wesson and former Councilwoman Jan Perry opened the ceremony two years ago, today it was only Mayor Eric Garcetti representing the city at the on-ice podium.

Having been sworn in just under one year ago, Mayor Garcetti made perhaps his boldest statement since taking office. You were there – you either watched it on TV or were in the building – and you remember how it brought the Kings out of their seats and elicited a jumping-up-and-down-hug from Equipment Manager Dana Bryson.
