On the road to winning the Stanley Cup:
We all believe in everybody in that room. We know what it takes to win, and we know that if we play our game that we’ll be successful.
On how this year’s Stanley Cup was different from the 2012 Stanley Cup:
This one was tough. I think we’ve got a real appreciation for what it takes now to win this. A lot of ups and downs. We had to dig deep, and we had to really battle.
On having welcomed Marian Gaborik into his home when he joined the team:
You know what? The same thing happened for me when I came here. That’s what these guys do here. They teach you to do the right things, and I’m just proud to be a part of it.
On the mindset when the team trailed the San Jose Sharks 3-0:
We were never worried. We knew that if we played our game that we’d be successful. The first three games of the playoffs we didn’t play ‘em, and that’s why we were down three-nothing.
On another comeback:
Might as well. We made it a little hard on ourselves, but all you can do is win. That’s it. It doesn’t matter how you do it.
On winning a Stanley Cup the same year he won an Olympic gold medal:
It’s been a hell of a year, hell of a year. Couldn’t ask for anything more.
On winning a Stanley Cup sinking in:
It won’t sink in for a few days. It’s been a crazy few months, and I’m just trying to take it all in.
On the pride of being a two-time Stanley Cup champion and a gold medalist:
This is what it’s all about. You play this game to win championships. You play this game to do this. It’s pretty awesome.
