June 9 postgame quotes: Anze Kopitar

On whether Jonathan Quick’s early save gave the rest of the team confidence:
Oh, it’s huge for everybody. After that save you really think he’s on and he certainly was on tonight. He gave us a chance, that’s all we ask of him. He obviously gives us much more than that with a couple huge saves. Hopefully he can continue playing like that.

On having the lead after the first period:
Obviously it was very energetic for our team to score late like that and I guess get off the schneid with not leading in the series yet. Obviously we came in, regrouped pretty well and were looking to win the second period. I thought we came out pretty well. We managed the puck pretty well in the second. The power play was obviously huge. I know Darryl is talking about it all the time, it’s not how many it’s when. And that was certainly a big goal for us.

On whether the game was a good example of “Kings Hockey”:
Yeah, I think so. It’s pretty boring, nothing flashy. But we’ll take it. We realize that this kind of hockey got us here and it’s going to take us from here on out. We just have to make sure we keep playing like that.

On being one win away from the Stanley Cup:
We’re not going to think about that. We’re going to go about our own business. We’ll enjoy this one tonight and then make sure we get prepared as best as we can for Wednesday.

On whether getting the first goal was one of their objectives for the game:
Yeah, I think it was a little bit easier scoring first. Obviously scoring with point-seven left in the first takes a little bit of wind out of their sails and energizes us. We came out pretty strong in the second, obviously got a big power play goal. We were able to just go from there.
