June 9 postgame quotes: Drew Doughty

On the state of the team:
We have a lot of confidence right now, but we can’t get ahead of ourselves. We’ve got a lot of work left to do. It’s not even close to being over. This is going to be the toughest part of the series, closing it out. Yeah, we’re a confident group, but we’ve got better and we’ve got to show it.

On whether tonight’s performance represented “2012 Jonathan Quick”:
Yeah, you know what? Quickie’s been playing great for us all playoffs, and I don’t think he’s had a bad game. He always plays well for us, and yeah, maybe tonight he was extra, extra good, and I think it probably was the best game of the playoffs for him, and he stood on his head at times. Even though maybe his numbers aren’t the same as 2012, he’s played just as good.

On whether he thought a clean sweep would be possible at the outset of the series:
No, but it’s still not done. We still have got a lot of work to do. They’re going to have their best game, I guarantee you that, and it’s going to be in their home arena, so it’s not going to be an easy job. We’ve got a great opportunity right now, but we know how easy it is to come back from three-nothing. We did it once in San Jose – I guess not easy, how hard. It can be done. That’s the bottom line.

On using experience heading into Wednesday’s elimination game:
Yeah, we can use our experience. A lot of these guys witnessed the 2012 playoffs when we didn’t win against New Jersey. It took us two extra games. We won in it in Game 6. We can’t get ahead of ourselves. We’ve just got to focus on the game at hand, the task at hand, and that’s it.

On saving a goal by hooking Rick Nash:
Yeah, I knew I had to do that. Quickie was down and out, and it was a bad bounce behind the net off my skates, and I knew I had to hook him. I don’t like taking penalties, but sometimes there are good penalties, and I had to take that one.
