Regehr not skating; Mitchell “solid”

Earlier today, Darryl Sutter confirmed that Robyn Regehr “hasn’t started skating yet.” At this point, there is no timetable for the defenseman’s return. Regehr was injured in the first period of Game 1 of the Anaheim series.

After yesterday’s game, Sutter offered a brief response when asked to gauge Willie Mitchell’s performance, saying that “he was fine” after returning to the lineup after having missed eight games due to injury. On Monday, Sutter expanded on Mitchell’s performance and the circumstances that led him to play.

“I asked him flat out if he was going to be able to play,” Sutter said. “I mean, he plays the left side, and if he was going to be able to play against guys who come down that right side on him, and not just play – we’re trying to win the hockey game.”

“I thought he was solid. I think everybody thought that.”

In 16:49 of ice time, Mitchell was credited with two hits and one blocked shot, and was on the ice for Tyler Toffoli’s goal in the 3-1 loss. He finished with three attempted shots, one of which was on net.
