May 12 postgame quotes: Gaborik, Martinez

Marian Gaborik, on what he took from the third period:
We were talking about that we have to get to Gibson, and if we do, things are happening. If we get the shots through and try to go to the net, the rebounds are there, and we had some chances from there. So we’ll just have to keep doing that. We just have to clean a lot of stuff up. We’re coming home, and we’re confident we can win and come back here.

Gaborik, on any post-game discussion on detail, or whether it will wait for practice:
We’re going to get back to work, and like I said, clean some stuff up. We’ve been in this situation before, and we have a tight group that knows how to win, and we’re confident we can come back here.

Gaborik, on whether John Gibson has given Anaheim added confidence:
I’m not going to talk about their team. We have a lot of stuff to talk about our team, but we’ve got to do it within our room. We’re not going to go and get into what they’re doing. So we’ve just got to, how I said, we did a better job to get to Gibson and get some chances, some goals from that. We’ve just got to keep doing that and we just have to clean a lot of stuff up.

Gaborik, on whether there is an explanation of the team’s postseason streaks:
I don’t know. The teams are too good. You can see around the league that there isn’t one team that is really dominating. This is a tight series, and we expect it to be before the series started, and it still is. We’re coming back home and it’s a must win situation, and we’re going to do everything we can to come back here.

Alec Martinez, on what he takes from the loss:
We’re in a must-win situation now. We can’t really take much from it. We lost. [Reporter: You’ve been there. You’ve been in those must-win situations before. Do you like your chances in Game 6?] Yeah, this group has been presented with this situation before last round. This is a different hockey club. We’ve got to play even better than we did last round, and hopefully we can play our game the next game.

Martinez, on whether the team plays its best hockey in desperate situations:
I think we’ve got a lot of character in this room. We’ve got a lot of good hockey players, and we’ve been in this situation before, so we’ve just got to take it one game at a time and focus on the next one.

Martinez, on trailing three games to two:
I don’t think we’ve really been too happy with quite a few of our games in this series, so we’ve got to definitely play better next game.
