On the third period push:
Tonight’s not about the third. It’s about the second. This time of year, we made too many easy mistakes, and we had to try to come back the way we did. It’s too hard.
On the second period:
I think it was just they scored three goals on plays that we weren’t hard enough on. We’ve just got to be harder.
On what to take about the team’s third period desperation:
We’ve got to take how we played in the last period and apply it to the whole game.
On whether the penalty kill is suffering from the absence of Willie Mitchell and Robyn Regehr:
Obviously when guys go out, it’s part of the journey this time of the year. It’s an opportunity for other guys to step up. Not that we don’t miss those guys, but we’re not concerned. We’ve got 20 guys who can play, and those are the 20 guys that have got to step up.
On the turnovers:
That’s just a mental thing. When we get pressured into giveaways, that’s one thing. But when we’re giving the puck up when we’re not under heavy pressure, we’ve got to eliminate those.
