On whether he sensed Anaheim was trying to block shots more than previously:
I don’t know. I think they generally block a lot of shots. I don’t know if that’s statistically accurate, but the way they kind of play as a defense, point shots have generally got to go through three Ducks the way they layer their D-system. So we’ve got to get them through.
On whether fighting from behind goes against Los Angeles’ gameplan:
I don’t think you ever want to start down one-nothing, let alone two nothing. I mean, we can’t give up that type of goal. I know it’s a power play goal, but you say it’s a bank from behind the net. At the end of the day, Getzlaf had a wide open net two seconds before that, too. Those are types of plays we can’t allow.
On whether he was surprised that Jonathan Quick was pulled after the first period:
That’s one of those things [that had more to do with] the other 18 guys, not Quickie. [Reporter: Like, just to basically say, ‘Let’s just do something different. We need to get it going now’ kind of a thing?] More so ‘Wake up.’
On any confidence in heading back to Anaheim, whether they’ve won twice this series:
No. I mean, confidence – if you’re relying on confidence this time of the year, you’re generally not playing. It’s about doing the right things, and at the end of the day it’s about will around this time of the year.
On whether there was an emotional letdown in the first period after a strong start:
If our power play isn’t going to be good, it at least needs to go get momentum for us, not go the other way. Tonight it detracted from our momentum. At the end of the day, we need to get back to a five-on-five mentality on our power play, and until we do that, it won’t be successful.
On whether the team felt like it was dominating the five-on-five play:
I thought our second period was good. I mean, I guess it’s line-to-line and player-to-player how you feel, or how the game’s going, but collectively we need to find more, because at the end of the day whether you possess the puck or outshoot ‘em, again this time of the year, it’s purely about results.
