On being “in control” of the series:
There’s no control in the series. It’s shift-to-shift, game by game.
On the how narrow the Los Angeles-Anaheim season series has been:
Well, coming into the series, we were told that it wasn’t that close, so we kind of bunkered in there and said it was. So we think it is close. [Reporter; Is there anything that you can pinpoint, any kind of common theme of the way a team wins in this season’s series, given how close every game has been this year?] I think top players playing against each other, great goaltending, good power plays, things like that.
On whether Marian Gaborik has produced as expected:
We were counting on Gabby to do that, and I’ve been really happy with him. He’s scored big goals and he made a big play last night on the power play to Jeff. He’s played really well for us. [Reporter: His chemistry with Anze – did it take some time to develop?] We didn’t get him until the deadline, or right around there. That’s always one thing you’re concerned, is when you get a guy late in the year, how they are going to fit in. A lot of times it doesn’t, and it has with Marian.
On whether any first round struggles can help the Kings in the current series:
Well, I think you take it as pretty much a period or a shift, and you don’t too much into it. As I said, I thought last night, everything shows that was the best game of the series, so maybe it’s closer than you [think], and that’s probably what you take. There’s not enough gaps in the team. We just finished playing San Jose, and it was a seven-game series, and it should’ve been.
