April 24 postgame quotes: Dustin Brown

On the team having to play better in San Jose:
At the end of the day we have to be a lot better. Tonight we got the win, but again, we have to be better in our own zone. We had a couple breakdowns, and against this team, the score could’ve been a lot different tonight, quite honestly. So we have to clean up our D-zone and our checking. There were a couple miscues, and they scored on them. Again, we’ve got to focus on the next game./

On the pride of the way the team competed and earned a win:
It’s about pride in here. We’ve been through a lot as a group. It’s been well documented, I think, over the last few years, so this is just another challenge. It was one challenge, and now you get ready for the next. It’s not about dwelling on tonight because it’s irrelevant now.

On trying to establish a lead in San Jose and put pressure on the Sharks:
Yes and no. They still have command of this series. It’s, again, about taking it a shift at a time. Going into their building, every home time thrives off of their crowd and their home building this time of year, so we need to be prepared to do the little things and the right things, especially early, and again, chip away. You can’t look too far ahead, especially against a team like this.

On what made an emotional game even more chippy:
With one minute left, I mean, it’s over at that point. Two teams are going after each other. It’s part of playoffs. That’s what makes this fun.

On any surprise over the length of time before playing on the top line:
Not really. I mean, it’s one of those things – you put the players where they need to be to give the team the best chance to win, and sometimes it doesn’t work out. As a player, you just put your head down and play wherever.
