April 18 practice quotes: Darryl Sutter

On whether he liked Friday’s practice after returning to L.A.:
Yep, Start over.

On what led to San Jose’s odd-man rushes:
Well, I think, first off, again, you’re generalizing too much. I think that when you’re down by three goals in a playoff game, you’ve got to stretch it out and go for it a little bit, so that’s not normal.

On who he’d like to see “a better game from”:
I don’t think you single players out in playoffs or at any time. That’s not my style, and that’s not what good teams do. I think that everybody will be better.

On the pre-game power outage:
I was in the locker room. That’s where everybody was. It’s like I told Dean, it’s a good thing he wasn’t in an elevator, and I’m glad it wasn’t when we were walking, because in San Jose you’ve got to walk across the ice. So if it would’ve gotten dark there, I would’ve had a problem. I didn’t have a candle or a cigar or nothing.

On how Los Angeles can counter San Jose’s speed:
I think we can use ours. It’s not like there’s a big difference in speed. It wasn’t our night. They scored a bad goal early, and we made a bad line change, and two of our veterans turned pucks over in the neutral zone on the same play, and it’s three-nothing. It’s easy. I wish I could sit up there and say what you’d say. But it’s just not that easy. Maybe the score could’ve been ten-nothing, maybe it could’ve been one-nothing.
