Doughty: “I’m ready to go whenever”

Drew Doughty resumed practicing on Monday, and though he traveled with the team to Alberta this week, he has not yet drawn into a game since suffering an upper-body injury in the first period of a 2-1 loss at San Jose on April 3.

Along with Andrew Campbell, Tanner Pearson and Jonathan Quick, he was on the ice for practice at Toyota Sports Center at 12:00 p.m. on Friday.

Saying that he didn’t know whether he’d play against Anaheim in the season finale at Staples Center on Saturday, Doughty expressed confidence in his ability to step into the lineup when needed.

“It’s a coach’s decision, a doctor’s decision,” he said. “I’m ready to go whenever. Just taking it day-by-day.”

Would he play if the decision was up to him?

“I wouldn’t mind getting one in, but…it’s not really, I guess, necessary, at the same time. I’ll be ready for the first game of the playoffs no matter what happens. Like I said, it’s up to them, and I’m ready to go whenever.”
