On the team’s defensive play in the victory over Phoenix:
We were coming off a game that we were sloppy against Minnesota and that cost us the game, giving up the lead and eventually losing the game. So we talked about, before the game against Phoenix, a lot of areas and I think we did a better job of that. There are still areas of improvement and we know that and it will be a good test tonight against a very good team, especially at home here, with San Jose.

On holding onto the lead in the third period:
You don’t want to dwell on things too much, but the guys were well aware of the situation we were in. A lot of the times, you can’t get too focused on the result. For us, you focus on the process of getting there and what you have to do and there are a lot of things that go into that- whether it’s getting a timely penalty kill, or a power play goal as we did last night, just being really good in our zone, not spending too much time there and being clean coming through the neutral zone, not having too many turnovers. All those things go into winning a game and not giving up leads and being able to nail down games. I think that we did a better job of last night than we had in the previous games and we need to continue on that path.

On preparing for a regular season game against a likely playoff opponent:
I think very similar to a normal regular season game, except it is a little bit different that both teams have a playoff spot and it’s extremely difficult for anyone to move around in the seeding. You know that there is a possibility there, but that’s not what anyone is focusing on. There is already a rivalry here from the years past and playoff meetings and things like that. I don’t think the fact that we could have a matchup here is going to have any more bearing on the game than it already was.
