March 20 postgame notes

-With the win, Los Angeles improved to 54-32-15 all-time against Washington, a record that includes a home mark of 31-14-7. The Kings have beaten the Capitals six straight times dating back to November 20, 2008.

-Darryl Sutter won his 500th career game, tying Toe Blake for 17th place on the NHL’s all-time list. He trails Pat Burns (501) by one win. With 1,027 games coached, he trails his brother Brian Sutter (1,028) by one game for 17th place on the NHL’s all-time regular season games coached list. Sutter is 500-374-153 overall in his career and 91-54-22 with the Kings.

-Jonathan Quick won his 171st career game, tying Rogie Vachon’s franchise record of 171 wins in a Kings uniform. In 326 career games, Quick is 171-115-31 with 29 shutouts, a 2.29 goals-against average and a .915 save percentage. 35 of his 171 career wins have come via the shootout.

-Los Angeles is 28-for-31 on the penalty kill, dating back to the third period in Colorado on February 26.

-Anze Kopitar has 15 points (6-9=15) in the last 13 games and 10 points (7-3=10) in seven career games against Washington.

-Justin Williams became the 15th King to appear in 200 consecutive games. The club record for consecutive games played is held by Kopitar, who appeared in 330 straight games between March 21, 2007 and March 26, 2011.

-The Kings are 35-5-6 when allowing two or fewer goals.

-Marian Gaborik has four points (2-2=4) in the last four games.

-Of Los Angeles’ 68 attempted shots, 59% either missed the net (20) or were blocked (20). Of Washington’s 49 attempted shots, 55% either missed the net (11) or were blocked (16).

-The Kings were credited with 50 hits. Robyn Regehr finished with a game-high eight hits. The Capitals were credited with 22 hits.

-Washington out-blocked Los Angeles 20-11. John Carlson finished with a game-high six blocks.

-Jeff Carter has five shots on goal over the last three games. He has four goals in the last 19 games.

-Mike Richards has been held scoreless in six straight games and has seven points (2-5=7) in his last 21 games.

-The Kings won 33-of-62 faceoffs (53%). Among regular performers, Mike Richards won 3-of-6, Anze Kopitar won 14-of-23, Trevor Lewis won 1-of-4, Jarret Stoll won 7-of-17 and Jeff Carter won 7-of-11.

-Trevor Lewis is 3-of-15 on faceoffs over the last three games.

The Kings are scheduled to practice at 11:00 a.m. at Toyota Sports Center on Friday, March 21.
