March 15 postgame quotes: Anaheim

Frederik Andersen, on the keys to the win:
Just playing physical. Dumping it in, getting behind their defensemen, and protecting the middle. We’ve done a great job the last two games, and it was huge for the win today.

Andersen, on rebounding from a rough stretch:
We know we have the capabilities to be a top team. Sometimes we have a rough swing, but we need to find a way for those to happen less often.

Andersen, on a playoff atmosphere:
You don’t know yet, but it could potentially be a really fun series, of course with the rivalry and everything. I think yeah, that would be fun, but we still have some games to play, and we’re just focused on what’s ahead.

Ryan Getzlaf, on rebounding from a rough stretch:
We need to make sure we keep building our game, keep getting better, so we hit that level where we hit our stride going into the playoffs.

Getzlaf, on the importance of finishing in first place:
We’re trying to build toward the playoffs, and in order for us to hit the playoffs at our stride we’d like to be in first. I think that would mean we’ve earned it all season long and we don’t want to let it slip away from us at the end of the year here. It’s a goal of ours for sure. Is it the end of the world if we don’t? No. But it means we get home ice advantage throughout the playoffs and that’s what we’re looking for.

Getzlaf, on a “hard fought game”:
It was great; it was a good hockey game. It was back and forth, a little chippy here and there, and those are the type of games we need to get used to down the stretch.

Getzlaf, on the team’s response to a recent four-game losing streak:
It’s a response. What I’ve said the whole time is when you have those downfall games where you don’t play well, you could easily pack it up and take the next couple off in trying to find your way back. Our guys didn’t do that. They did a great job in responding and played two good hockey teams.

Getzlaf, on looking to avoid Los Angeles in the first round:
I’ve already answered that more or less. It’s about finishing in our stride. We’re trying to win every night, and we’re trying to build our team toward the playoffs. So, I think a good step for that is to finish first.

Bruce Boudreau, on Los Angeles’ disallowed goal:
I mean he ran right into our goalie. I’ve seen so many, lot lesser incidents called for penalties, so I was surprised they didn’t get a penalty. But we knew automatically that there was no way that was going to count.

Boudreau, on defensive scoring:
We’ve been a four-line team when we’re successful, and when that happens when the big guns aren’t scoring, someone else is chipping in. Last night in Colorado it was like that, here tonight it was like that, and if we want to be successful we’ll be like that all along the way.

Boudreau, on the team’s response following the loss in Calgary:
It was a tough Thursday. I mean, we were searching for a couple of answers, and we knew we were better than what we showed in the previous three games. I thought we played a more solid game on Friday, and then came back and did even better today. I think it’s us getting back to where we can be. The fact that we’d never won in this building since I’ve been here was a little feather in the cap.

Boudreau, on the team’s leadership:
We do have great leaders, and they don’t let the team get down for extended periods of time, so it doesn’t surprise me that they came back with two great efforts on the road. Tonight everybody sucked it up and played a little bit above of what they’re capable of doing. We need that especially against a great team like the Kings.
