March 10 postgame quotes: Darryl Sutter

On a quality road performance “until the end”:
It’s fine. Finished off a trip, got we wanted.

On not having lost in Calgary since he left the Flames organization:
I mean, it doesn’t matter where you are. It’s an old saying. When you score three on the road, you should win the hockey game. Hung on, won the game.

On Martin Jones’ performance:
He was really solid. Quite honest, when we came back from the Olympics, we started in Colorado. He won that game in there also. We were down 4-2 and he hung on and won that game in there also. He did a good job for us tonight.

On Tanner Pearson’s “jump”:
You need that. It’s not Tanner Pearson, specifically. I thought our young kids all matched the energy and speed from the other side.

On the game being special for Martin Jones:
Yeah, that’s the first thing I thought of this morning. He was about four doors down, and I was coming out the other side there. Good for him.

On whether he saw Martin Jones frequently when he worked in Calgary:
Yeah, I had seen lots of him here. [Reporter: When you were here, you used to like to come and talk to the guys, and you would really like seeing the junior guys succeed.] Yeah, but I didn’t talk to them because most of ‘em belonged to somebody else. [Reporter: No, not talking like that. I mean, giving them good words of encouragement.] It was awesome. Put it this way. If I was a kid playing junior hockey, and I got to come to watch the Flames practice, or watch them how they handle themselves around the building, that’s pretty special. I think it’s not just Martin Jones. Kelly Kisio’s done that for [a while]. You look at the kids that have come through this program, that’s a big part. For sure.
