Jonathan Quick to start vs Czech Republic

Jonathan Quick backstopped the United States to a 7-1 win over Slovakia and a 3-2 shootout victory over host Russia, and after sitting out the team’s 5-1 win over Slovenia, will be back in net when the Americans face the Czech Republic in the quarterfinals on Wednesday (9:00 am PT / MSNBC).

USA Hockey made the announcement over Twitter this morning:

Through two games, Quick has a win, a shootout win, and has stopped 51-of-54 shots for a 1.44 goals-against average and .944 save percentage.

The Czechs arrived at the quarterfinals after beating rival Slovakia 5-3 in their opening knockout round game. In the preliminary round, the Czechs lost 4-2 to Sweden, beat Latvia 4-2, and lost 1-0 to Switzerland to finish with a minus-1 goal differential as the third place team in Group C.
