Martinez out with hyperextended elbow

Alec Martinez suffered a hyperextended elbow in the collision with Andrew Cogliano and Jonathan Quick in the third period of Saturday’s loss to the Anaheim Ducks, LA Kings Insider learned from Kings Assistant General Manager Rob Blake.

Martinez underwent an MRI, which showed no tear. He is not on the trip.

Expect Matt Greene, who returned to practice last week, to return to the lineup for tonight’s game in San Jose (7:00 p.m. / NBCSN). Greene, who will likely see time with multiple defensive partners, indicated that he expects to start alongside Willie Mitchell, so expect pairings of Muzzin-Doughty, Regehr-Voynov and Mitchell-Greene to start.

Greene hasn’t played since leaving the Kings’ 1-0 win over Vancouver on January 13 during the second period. Darryl Sutter said on January 21 that the injury was a concussion.
