Gasper Kopitar, Anze’s younger brother, had a challenging start to the 2013-14 season. After an encouraging beginning to his professional career with Mora IK in Sweden’s HockeyAllsvenskan a season ago, points and quality opportunities weren’t finding him when the team reconvened in September. After returning to Los Angeles for his next opportunity with an eye on playing in Europe, the possibility of playing for the ECHL’s Ontario Reign began to take shape. Though he wasn’t selected to represent Slovenia at the 2014 Winter Olympics, he’s had a fine start with the Kings’ ECHL affiliate and scored a key goal with his family in attendance last weekend.
