December 17 postgame quotes: Edmonton

Taylor Hall, on Los Angeles:
They’re a good team. They’re a heavy team. That’s pretty well publicized, but I thought we had some good pushback tonight. The bounces go our way and their goalie isn’t as hot as he is, it could be a different game. For the most part, we showed a lot of really good things. They’re a heavy team. They like to get zone time on us and we managed to get out of a bit of a tough circumstance a couple times in the game. A good effort.

Hall, on what Edmonton did well:
That was a pretty good game by us. There’s going to be games in this league where you have to tip your hat to the other team and say they played a great game. Like I said, I thought we showed a lot of really good things. A lot of good pushback against a heavy team and we’re not a heavy team by any means. It would have been nice to get a couple goals on their goalie. When you get a chance, a few times especially like I did, you got to put them in. It just changes the whole complexion of the game.

Dallas Eakins, on how his team played:
I thought the last time we were here, we got pushed right out of the rink. It took an amazing goaltending performance to keep it close. Tonight I thought it was a much different game. I thought we were able to play with them. I thought Bryz was excellent when he needed to be. I thought we had the puck in our right skill players’ hands to generate chances, and we couldn’t score. Usually, the problems with our team have been turnovers or some defensive zone lapses, but that wasn’t the case tonight. We needed to score a goal and it would have changed things greatly.

Eakins, on Martin Jones:
It turns into math. The more chances you’re getting, the sooner or later they’re going to go in. That young man is good. Maybe we should have just ran him in the first shift and got it over with. That’s a good goalie there.
