December 10 postgame quotes: Martin Jones

On the win:
I thought we did a really good job tonight. They got some chances on the power play, but you need saves out of your goaltender on the penalty kill. You just have to get those. Five-on-five, we did a really good job all night. In the second period we didn’t take any penalties, and I think they only had two or three shots. I thought we did a great job tonight.

On facing 17 shots in the first period:
Like I said, they’re a good team, a really skilled team, and they’re going to get chances on the power play. I just wanted to try and give these guys a chance, and after that we played really, really well.

On whether two shutouts in three games surpass his expectations:
Maybe I didn’t expect to get that kind of start, but I don’t want to stop here. I want to make sure I keep working. We’ve got a lot of work ahead of us. We’re playing some good teams, so I ‘ve just got to continue to work here.

On winning a nine round shootout, posting a 16-save shutout, and facing a bevy of early shots Tuesday, and whether it represents a variety of situations:
I think so. It’s been nice to get wins in different ways, for sure. That’s the sign of a good team, is we’ve found ways to win in different situations. So it’s been a good start so far.

On whether he felt the team was looking to protect the shutout in the third period:
Like I said before, we did a great job five-on-five all night. The guys didn’t stop playing even though we had that six-goal lead. Guys continued to block shots and get in lanes, and take away sticks in front of the net, so they a great job all night.

On whether he’d feel confident and ready if needed tomorrow:
Yeah, whenever I’m called upon, they’re going to get my best.

On the atmosphere in Bell Centre:
It was great. The first period, it was pretty rocking. Obviously not as lively in the second and third there, but it was a pretty fun atmosphere, for sure.
