Frattin receives 14 stitches in his lip

Matt Frattin needed 14 stitches to close a cut in his lip as a result of a high stick from Tampa Bay’s Pierre-Cedric Labrie in Los Angeles’ 5-2 win Tuesday night. He wore a full protective shield that provided protection for his mouth and jaw during today’s morning skate and will do so again this evening.

Frattin, on the team’s ability to score goals on deflections and redirections:
Just go to the net and try to get sticks on them and change the direction for goalies. So many goalies are so good in this league that you have to get in front of the net and get bodies in front and push them back. That’s something that we have been working on in practice and we just have to continue doing it in games because it is helping us win games. [Reporter: Not that many pretty goals anymore, are there?] No. It’s all tips, rebounds…The goalies are too good for that. You might get lucky once.
