Martin Jones to join Kings in New York

Per Dean Lombardi, goaltender Martin Jones will join the Kings when they arrive in New York. No roster move has officially been made at this point with respect to Jones or to Jonathan Quick, who suffered what appeared to be a lower-body injury during overtime of Tuesday’s 3-2 shootout loss to the Buffalo Sabres.

Originally signed by Los Angeles as an unrestricted free agent in October, 2008, Jones, 23, is 9-2-2 with a 2.24 goals against average and .927 save percentage with the Monarchs. After a brief holdout, he signed a two-year contract with the Kings in September. J.F Berube drew the start and stopped 23-of-24 shots in Manchester’s 3-1 win over Norfolk earlier today.

The Kings’ 12:30 practice has been pushed back by roughly half an hour because of the news this morning in Buffalo. After practicing at the First Niagara Center, the team will fly to Long Island in advance of Thursday’s game against the New York Islanders.
