On the performances of Toffoli and Vey:
They played well tonight. They gave us a lot of energy and right from game one they have played well and it’s nice to have those guys contribute.
On what Toffoli and Vey did well in the game:
They did well. Not just forecheck but handling the puck. It’s a quick team over there and for them to control the puck like they did, they got a physical team too, and for them to have the confidence to make plays. Both [are] smart players. Like I said, it’s nice to see them go from practice to game with that same mindset and same skill and have that hard work pay off.
On how the team played:
We played well, and they probably didn’t the game that they wanted. But they had a good team over there and we capitalized on our chances tonight.
On playing without Jeff Carter:
I think the biggest thing with Jeff out is taking faceoffs on my off side… You have to bear down a little bit more and you struggle to get that puck control when you’re taking faceoffs on that side. But you understand that Carter and Stollie out you have to step up in different facets of the game and we have done a good job of that.
