October 13 Postgame Quotes: Justin Williams

On the win streak:
We feel we are working our way up. We want to be trending upward. Getting games on the road and early in the season is important so you are not fighting an uphill battle come after Olympic break. These points are just as important now as they are in March and April. It’s important for us to start off good.

On how the team is playing:
It’s just one game. I don’t think we have certainly played our best hockey. We are playing better it seems every game and we need to continue that.

On defensemen contributing to the offense:
I just think that the league has changed so much that offensively you need to get your defense involved. They are called defensemen, but they need to be just as involved as the forwards in the offensive zone. We have tried to make plays for them, them coming down the wall, just create some commotion and take away some room out there.

On scoring his 500th point:
It doesn’t mean too much right now, to be quite honest. I think when I look back on my career, and hopefully I have quite a few years left and I plan on adding to those totals, but it certainly is a little milestone I will look at and be proud of. As I said, I am expecting a lot more years and a lot more points to help this team.
