Good morning, Fort Lauderdale

Good morning from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where the team touched down at a quarter to one last night. After unsuccessfully trying to locate the Dodger game on the radio while on the media bus to the team hotel, we checked in, stuffed into elevators and arrived in our rooms right at the moment that Carlos Beltran hit his game-winning single in the bottom of the 13th inning. Here’s to a bounce back performance for the boys in blue later this afternoon.

I understand that in previous years the team had stayed in Sunrise, Florida, on the edge of the Everglades and near the BB&T Center, where Florida Panthers play. Not this year. We’re across the Intracoastal Waterway from mainland Fort Lauderdale, on a sliver of land just north of the Fort Lauderdale Harbor, one or two blocks from the beach across the street from the beach.

It’s a beautiful, warm Florida morning.
