Development camp scrimmage results

Below is the scoring account from this morning’s scrimmage at Toyota Sports Center. Keep in mind that much of the entirety of the first half of the scrimmage was played at either five-on-three or four-on-three, while the second half was played primarily four-on-four.

FIRST HALF

BLACK, 1-0
MICHAEL MERSCH on a quick wraparound.

BLACK, 2-0
VALENTIN ZYKOV chipped in loose rebound from close range.

WHITE, 1-2
TANNER PEARSON, stationary, ripped a quick wristshot that beat the goaltender up high, glove side.

WHITE, 2-2
JORDAN WEAL, finishing off a nice feed from Tomas Hyka with a one-timer. Kurtis MacDermid set up the play with a crisp two-zone outlet pass.

BLACK, 3-2
TYLER TOFFOLI, scored during three-on-five situation. Up high, short side.

BLACK, 4-2
TYLER TOFFOLI, scored again during a three-on-five situation, quick release, up high, glove side.

BLACK, 5-2
MAXIM KITSYN, deflection up high off a hard, low Colin Miller point shot.

WHITE, 3-5
TANNER PEARSON, snapping in a Nick Ebert feed after Ebert had spun and fed Pearson with a backhand.

SECOND HALF

BLACK, 6-3
MICHAEL MERSCH snapped in a cross-crease feed from point blank range.

NICK SHORE on a contested breakaway.

Prettiest goals:
1) Tanner Pearson, following Nick Ebert’s spin and backhanded pass
2) Jordan Weal, one-timing Tomas Hyka’s feed after a Kurtis MacDermid outlet pass
3) Maxim Kitsyn’s deflection of Colin Miller’s point shot

Honorable mention: Tyler Toffoli’s breakaway goal. It was like he held back the joystick on NHL 12/13/14/etc, counted to three, and then finally flicked his thumb forward with force.
