June 1 postgame quotes: Kopitar, Regehr, Clifford

Anze Kopitar, on Chicago’s penalty kill:
“I don’t know. I mean, we had one PK today and it felt we were moving the puck fairly good. Had some decent shots, so we’ve got to build on that. There’s not many chances that come, and we have to capitalize on the ones that they do.”

Kopitar, on whether the team was able to play its preferred style in Game 1:
“Maybe in the third period. The first two periods were not the type of game that we want to play. Too many turnovers, not quick enough, not physical enough. Nearly not enough puck possession time. I thought we did that a little bit better in the third, and tomorrow it’s got to be 60 minutes.”

Kopitar, on the team’s struggles through the first two periods & allowing 17 shots in the first:
“That’s the result of our poor play and our poor management of the puck, so we’ve got to clean that up.”

Robyn Regehr, on the Game 1 loss:
“Well, we didn’t play very well, especially in the first 40 minutes…We didn’t do a very good job right off the start, getting out-shot considerably in the first two periods, not doing a good job coming out of our zone, turning pucks over, not getting sustained pressure on the forecheck – all those things we didn’t do a very good job of.”

Regehr, on holding a lead in the game and being close to being able to find a way to win:
“Well, that was thanks to an unbelievable individual effort by Jonathan Quick…You’ve got rose-colored glasses on if you’re looking at the game plan that way. We weren’t very good in the first two periods. We know that we can play a lot better, and we have to.”

Kyle Clifford, on whether the team’s struggles had to do with match-ups:
“No, I think it just has to do with our preparation, our start. We’ve just got to be a little cleaner in our zone, and it allows us to play in the offensive zone.”

Clifford, on whether the loss is more disappointing because the team held a lead:
“Well, I mean any time you lose in the playoffs, it’s obviously disappointing. But like I said, we’ve got 24 hours here and a quick turnaround.”
